Lina de Florias is the weekend anchor of “Good Morning Arizona” and Everardo Keeme, professional photographer in Phoenix, AZ
Lina de Florias:
We are talking about professional headshots. You might be thinking, I’m not a model, I’m not an actor, do I need a headshot? Maybe you do. But if you do get one, you want it to look good. So, we’re bringing in the master here, this is Everardo Keeme, and maybe a glass of wine would help to ease the nerves.
Everardo Keeme:
Well, adults get a little camera shy sometimes, so we’re hoping the wine kind of helps them out and relaxes them a little bit.
Lina de Florias:
Tell us about headshots. Why would be getting one and maybe where could we get one.
Everardo Keeme:
Well, it’s your first impression. In this day and age, adults have such a small attention span, it’s seven seconds to make a good first impression and you don’t get a second chance to do it. You’re applying for a job. Maybe you own a business and you’re trying to attract clients to you business. Maybe you’re consulting, you’re a speaker, doing anything like that, you want to put a good face forward.
Lina de Florias:
Or, even just your profile picture even online, you want that to make a good impression too. Oh, look at great these are. What does someone need to do if you’re getting ready for your headshots.
Everardo Keeme:
Basically, we take care of ourselves first, so we rest, we hydrate, we eat good foods, we don’t do tanning, we don’t go spend a full day at spring training and then try to take our pictures the next day.
Lina de Florias:
WE don’t?
Everardo Keeme:
We always take care of ourselves first.
Lina de Florias:
In these pictures that we’re showing right now, what do you see? What stands out to you that you like or don’t like?
Everardo Keeme:
The biggest thing that we’re looking at here, is you have to remember you’re focusing on the person or the individual. What you don’t see is a lot of distractions as far as backgrounds. You don’t see a lot of distraction with clothing. We want all the focus to be on the person.
Lina de Florias:
On you.
Everardo Keeme:
Yeah, absolutely.
Lina de Florias:
What do we have here on the table?
Everardo Keeme:
A couple of examples of good examples and bad examples of what to wear and what not to wear. A lot of people tend to go with a Polo shirt, thinking, it’s clean, it’s safe, it’s simple, it’s just a Polo shirt. The problem with that is you have a very soft collar and it tends to show wrinkles really quickly, so that makes sometimes look a little sloppy. Right?
Lina de Florias:
Yeah.
Everardo Keeme:
Patterns and prints. Usually for men and women, we want to stay away from that. Kind of a bad thing. The idea here too is, let’s say with something like a checkered pattern or a paisley print or something like that and there are wrinkles. Or, let’s say something of a different pose or something like that and you want your photographer to Photoshop those things and clean it up, it’s really hard to do with a pattern and make it look good.
Lina de Florias:
Oh yeah, okay I got you.
Everardo Keeme:
And, there again, it’s distracting. We want all of the focus to be on the individual, not on the clothing. Unless you’re really known for something like real stylish, outlandish clothes, then of course, put on your costume and let’s go.
Lina de Florias:
If you’re doing your clown headshot.
Everardo Keeme:
Absolutely.
Lina de Florias:
Then, one thing too, that you said, is to wear those bright colors that pop so it brings you out of the photo.
Everardo Keeme:
Of course, it’s a way to show off your personality and bring a little bit of pop out there. Maybe you want to show your branding colors. I’m huge on that. I love to show my own brand’s colors whenever I take my own headshot.
Lina de Florias:
Okay.
Everardo Keeme:
That way there’s that connection between yourself and your company at that point.
Lina de Florias:
Also, I’m sure everyone has their own power color, right?
Everardo Keeme:
Absolutely.
Lina de Florias:
This is the one that makes me feel amazing.
Everardo Keeme:
Some colors really do look great on some people. The colors that you’re wearing, perfectly compliments your makeup, makes your eyes pop a little bit.
Lina de Florias:
Thanks. But, I have a pattern, so is that–that’s probably a nay.
Everardo Keeme:
No, not all.
Lina de Florias:
Oh.
Everardo Keeme:
Women actually get a little bit more freedom than guys. As guys we kind of have to–we need help. That’s really what it comes down to. Guys need help. Ladies, we can get away with a lot.
Lina de Florias:
You heard it here. Let’s talk about where the wine comes. You have a fabulous event going on at LDV Wine Gallery.
Everardo Keeme:
Absolutely. In Old Town Scottsdale, right off of there in Goldwater we’re doing Headshot Happy Hour.
Lina de Florias:
So great.
Everardo Keeme:
Again, people get afraid to have their photos taken, so we’re going to infuse a little bit of wine in there, a little adult juice in there to help them out, liquid courage, if you will.
Lina de Florias:
And it’s social.
Everardo Keeme:
Absolutely, if you’ve ever been to the winery, it’s a beautiful scene and a beautiful setting.
Lina de Florias:
That’s amazing. What’s the cost on this?
Everardo Keeme:
We have package that go anywhere from $50 and up.
Lina de Florias:
Oh, that’s great.
Everardo Keeme:
If people want to pop in and get a quick picture or if they want to do something a little bit more branding. If they want to bring some friends, they want to bring a business partner, come one down, have some fun. We’re also including a glass of wine or a bottle of wine, depending on how you sign up.
Lina de Florias:
On how nervous you are.
Everardo Keeme:
Yeah.
Lina de Florias:
Okay perfect. Thanks so much for coming down.
Everardo Keeme:
Absolutely.
Lina de Florias:
Again, that is Headshot Happy Hour. We love it. We’ll be right back.
